Prof. Dr. Ferhat Matur

Professor · Head of the Division of Molecular Biology

About

Ferhat Matur is a professor at the Department of Biology, Dokuz Eylül University, where he heads the Division of Molecular Biology. After working as a research assistant, assistant professor and associate professor at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (2002–2016), he joined Dokuz Eylül University in 2017 and became a full professor in 2020.

His research focuses on the cytogenetics, evolution, systematics and population genetics of Anatolia’s small mammals, especially blind mole rats (Nannospalax). Besides chromosomal evolution and speciation, his interests include the conservation of endemic species and the study of rodent-borne zoonotic agents from a One Health perspective. He has led and contributed to numerous national and international projects funded by TÜBİTAK.
