Investigating the selection pressure acting on cohesin and condensin genes, which organise chromosomes, in chromosomally hyper-diverse blind mole rats.

Cohesin and condensin are protein complexes that organise chromosomes and ensure their correct segregation during cell division. With their many chromosomally rearranged cytotypes, blind mole rats offer a unique model for studying the evolution of these genes.

The project investigates the selection pressure on genes of these complexes using comparative genomic and molecular evolution approaches.
